I don’t know about you, but to me, these days it can feel as though kindness has been thrown out the window. Everywhere we turn, there are arguments and disagreements over petty things. Simple things like a genuine smile, a word of encouragement, or even just giving someone room to walk by in the aisle of the grocery store seem to be asking too much. We seem to be in a society consumed with self.
Scripture on Kindness
I agree with showing kindness to ourselves. However, I don’t believe that we should be self-consumed. In Proverbs 21:21 we are told, “Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honor.” We also see kindness listed as a fruit of the Spirit in Galatians and God’s lovingkindness toward us displayed throughout Scripture.

We Need Kindness
Kindness is needed in our world. How does it make you feel when someone shows kindness to you? It is amazing how a single act of showing someone that you care can make a huge difference. Lives have been saved through the act of kindness. Let’s praise God today for His kindness toward us, but let’s also spread the beauty of kindness to someone else.
